Privacy Policy - Treat My Fish

Treat My Fish ("the App") is an aquaculture health application operated by the Faculty of Fisheries, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) ("we", "us", "our"). The App helps fish growers in Jammu & Kashmir submit fish-health cases and receive AI-assisted and expert guidance from fisheries scientists.

This policy explains what information we collect, why, how it is used and shared, and the choices you have. By using the App you agree to this policy.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The App requests camera, microphone, photo, location and notification permissions. These are used only for the purposes above and only when you choose to use the related feature. You can decline or later revoke any permission in your device settings; some features will then be limited.

3. How your data is processed for AI-assisted diagnosis

To provide a diagnosis, the images and case details you submit are processed by automated (AI) systems and by our cloud infrastructure. This processing may occur on third-party cloud and AI services acting on our behalf (see Section 5). Expert fisheries scientists may also review your case to issue an official diagnosis or advisory. Anonymised or aggregated case data may be used to improve diagnostic accuracy and for fisheries research and surveillance.

6. Data retention

We keep your account and case data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet legal, research and surveillance obligations. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time (see Contact). Some anonymised, non-identifying records may be retained for research and to improve diagnostic models.

8. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored on reputable cloud infrastructure with access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

9. Children

The App is intended for fish growers and fisheries professionals and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest version. Material changes will be communicated within the App where appropriate.
